Public Fire Protection Classification

March 3, 1997 Ms Paula Bloczynski, Twp Supervisor Greenwood TS 4443 Big Rock Rd Tower, MN 55790 RE: Public Fire Protection Greenwood TS, MN Dear Ms. Bloczynski: We wish to thank you, Fire Chief Gib Schultz, City Clerk Ellen Trancheff, Patsy Niska (St Louis County Communications) and others for the cooperation given to our representative during our recent survey. We have completed our evaluation of the fire insurance classification for your township and advise that the protection class has improved to Class 7 (Hydrant distance requirement does not apply due to an alternate creditable water supply). Formerly Class 8 applied. The new classifications may result in a decrease in advisory property insurance calculations for many insured properties within the township. The new classification will be effective June 1, 1997. The change will effect properties to a degree depending upon the type of building, construction, the hazards of occupancy and other factors. Insurance policyholders should contact their agent or insurance company to determine the effect this change in classification might have on their policies. The purpose of our visit was to gather information needed to determine a public protection classification which may be used to develop advisory property insurance calculations. This survey was not conducted for property loss prevention or life safety purposes and no life safety or property prevention recommendations will be made. We are attaching copies of our Grading Sheet and the results of the mobile water supply tests witnessed during our survey. Extra copies of this letter and attachments are also enclosed so that you may distribute them to other interested parties, if you desire to do so.
